The NFL Fantasy Funbox Week 10

Welcome to week 10 of the funbox. Whether you’re making a late run for the postseason or trying to hold off the opposition, you’ve come to the right place to solve all those pesky line-up dilemmas.

Raptor - 36 (+2 prop points) = 38 points
Beer Baron – 27(+2 prop points,) = 29 points (This includes a generous point for Santana Moss as a bust who barely played half the game)
Gizmo - 29 (+2 prop points) = 31 points

Quarterback of the week

Gizmo - Philip Rivers. Rivers had arguably his best game of the season in week 8 against the Saints in London. After a week off and a return to home soil, Rivers should be in for a repeat performance against the lowly Chiefs this week. Chris Chambers is healthy and Tomlinson seems to be past his turf toe, forcing teams to respect the run. This unlikely fantasy stud should be able to take advantage of a favorable match up and put some up some big points.
Honorable mention: Kurt Warner
Beer Baron - Chad Pennington.  On a team that appeared set on a long, arduous rebuilding process, Pennington has been more than the stabilizing force that he was initially sought out to be, and has emerged as a reliable lowQB1/top QB2.  The Fins face the Hawks this wk, a team that will truly enter rebuilding mode once Mike Holmgren leaves after this season.  Expect just under 300 yards passing (Penningtons average the past 4 games) and at least 1 TD…dont rule out him catching one also.
Honourable Mention:  Drew Brees
Raptor - Drew Brees. Brees has been the bee’s knees this year.  He’s on a record setting pace and with Colston and the Shock getting healthy he can only get better.  Sure he’s without Bush but Brees has shown he can get the job done with Henderson, Patten, and Miller as his big guns.  The Falcons have decided to sub Grimes out at CB but his replacement is not much better.  This is a poor secondary and Brees should shred them.
Honorable mention: Kurt Warner

The NFL Fantasy Funbox Week 7

Welcome to week 7 of the funbox, you should know the deal by now so we’ll get straight to goods, but first here’s the updated standings (after a recount discovered some fraud in Raptor’s calculations) to help you decide who to believe in.

Raptor - 10 points (+10 bonus) = 20 points
Beer Baron
- 8 points (+6 bonus) = 14 points
Gizmo - 11 points (+8 bonus) =
19 points

Quarterback of the week

Gizmo - Peyton Manning. Manning torched the league’s top defense last week for almost 300 yards and 3 TD’s and this week he gets the paltry Packers pass prevention so he should be good for at least those kinds of numbers this week. Indy and the Colts seem to be back on track so make sure you’re fantasy team does the same by starting Manning this week.
Honorable mention: Matt Schaub
Raptor - Matt Schaub.  Schaub finally realized that he should throw the ball to Andre Johnson last game.  Look what happened.  They both put up huge numbers and won their first game of the season.  Schaub would have to be dumber than a stump to not keep the train rolling this week against Detroit.  The Lions defense has had about as much success this season as Travis Henry has had using a condom. Expect Matt to make use of Johnson, Daniels, and Slaton this Sunday.
Honourable Mention - Jason Campbell
Beer Baron - Brett Favre. Oh Brett, you sly dawg, coercing Romo into not being a wimp and playing through his injury.  Can’t you see Romo blaming Favre for pushing him into playing and then fracturing his pinky?  Count on seeing these two duking it out in celebrity boxing if that situation does arise…Numero Quattro has an enviable match up this week against the Raiders, in a game that could turn into a shootout (or as much of one is possible with Jamarcus at QB) and a big game from Favre.  Note:  whichever Jets receiver isn’t covered by Asomougha is gonna have a big game.
Honorable mention:  Eli Manning

The NFL Fantasy Funbox - Wk 4

Welcome back to the funbox. We’ll tally the results from last week’s picks and start determining who is the premiere prognosticator at the end. But First, here’s our picks for week 4 where those pesky bye weeks up the ante on your fantasy decisions.

BEER BARON - Philip Rivers. Rivers was a constant fantasy disappointment for me the past two years, and thus, I decided to avoid him at all costs this year.  My bad.  He’s been a top-tier QB so far, and now that he’s had nearly a year to develop a strong rapport with his deep threat Chris Chambers, he is finally paying dividends for fantasy owners.  Count for that trend to continue this week against an Oakland Raiders team that is almost as bad as the new 90210 series. Key word: almost.
Honorable Mention – Aaron Rodgers

RAPTOR - Carson Palmer.  Palmer started off the season slowly but the Bengals O seemed to come alive last week against the stiff pass rush of the Giants.  Chad can only play better and they can always administer a healthy dose of Antonio Chatman if he doesn’t.  Plus, this week they get the Browns.  The Browns D is atrocious.  They should be renamed ‘The Altar Boys’ because they get abused every Sunday.
Honourable Mention - Trent Edwards

GIZMO - Jay Cutler.  Matt Ryan had no problem throwing for almost 200 yards in only 18 pass attempts last week vs KC. Cutler is averaging 36 attempts/game. What does that add up to? Yet another stellar outing for this fantasy stud. Yes, I picked him last week, but change just for the sake of change is like making ketchup green, no one’s gonna buy it.
Honorable Mention: Phillip Rivers
